2022 Game Details

Yes! It’s that time again……..

I know what you’re all thinking? The year end is almost upon us and we don’t know who umpired the most games or what was the most played period! How will I sleep on Christmas Eve not knowing these important facts and why hasn’t that clod Sears told us?????

Well, fear no longer gentle pilgrim of all things military, for I have unearthed the evidence and having had all my musings audited, accredited and mulled over by diverse experts from the war gaming world, I can now report my findings as follows:

Most popular period (decided by most games put on):

• 1st Place goes to Medieval with 5 games played.
• 2nd Place goes to WW2 with 4 games played.
• 3rd Place goes jointly to Boer War, Napoleonic and WW1 each with 2 games played.

Person who umpired (put on) the most evenings of play:

• 1st Place goes jointly to Steve and Mark each having bossed us around on 10 occasions.
• 3rd Place goes to me (John) having umpired on 9 occasions.
• 4th Place goes to Matt having umpired on 5 occasions.
• 5th Place goes jointly to Dave and Rupert each having umpired on 4 occasions.
• 7th Place goes jointly to Phil and Mike W each having umpired on 2 occasions.

John's Diary

Last Place goes to Mikey who stood in for Steve on 1 (single) occasion. But if he hadn’t then Steve would have run away with 1st Place, hurrah!!

There you have it chaps, another fine year of gaming. Well done to all of us I think 🤔 but especially thanks go out to Mikey and Rupert for their willingness to host us time and time again.

Finally, please do not challenge my findings without proper evidence (none of this “well, I’m sure I put on more games
than that” nonsense) I have the ‘cast in stone’ diary which is hanging from a belt secured just above my crotch and is like a sacred bible and can only be interpreted one way; the Way of the Order as Brother Matthew and Brother Oliver will testify to………….

2020 Gaming Results

I know, I know, you all thought I’d forgotten it this year didn’t you? But despite our setbacks from the zombie pandemic and Doris and his nanny state government’s responses we did manage to score a few games throughout the year and if you count Mike W’s sterling efforts at running the entire ACW as a remote (virtual) game then we still have a clear winner in the two categories of;

1. Most popular period 

2. Player who contributed to the most gaming weeks.

Therefore without further ado (fanfare please!)

The most popular period of 2020 was.......yes, you guessed it........ACW! Hurrah!

Followed (miles behind) by.......Medieval in second place and Colonial in third place. (Medieval speaks for itself and Colonial covers the Boer War and the Sikhs)

The Player who contributed the most was........yes, you guessed again!.......Mike W! Hurrah again!!

Followed (again miles behind) was Steve in second place and finally me coming a distant third due to a late spurt of a couple of clandestine games at Mikey’s in a brief moment of Dorris allowing households to mix for a nanosecond around mid Autumn.

Rupert, Dave and Mark also just made it onto the scoreboard in time. Rupert due to his games in January and Dave and Mark as late entries (Dave assisting me with Sikhs plus his Viking skirmish, Although that added even more points to Mike W for providing the figures and finally Mark with his WW2 effort at Steve’s house.)

So there you have it; the “efforts” of 2020. Without Mike W whose campaign ran for 27 weeks non stop we’d have a had a pretty dismal year, but trust one of our boys to come up trumps when our backs were against the wall to keep us amused in our hour of desolation and bewilderment when trips up to The Star were like a distant memory and we’d all but forgotten what Chinese on a Friday night tasted like. Along came ‘Tommy Atkins’ to save the day. Well done Mike W for such a resounding success with his ACW campaign.

Oh, and thanks to everyone else for taking part. It’s not much of a party if you don’t have any guests!

Stay safe and lets hope 2021 is more gamer friendly.

2019 Games Stats

Well, it’s that time of year once again when its good for the soul to analyse what we’ve been doing all year. So, once again I’ve taken it upon myself to burn the midnight oil pondering over exhaustive records, statistics and log entries (all on the back of one of Rupert's envelopes with gaps made up with personal prejudice) to illuminate our activities for your amusement (other analysis is or will be available) revealing the following items of interest;

Most popular gaming period of 2019

Joint 1st place: Medieval & WW2

3rd place:         Horse and Musket

Player who put most games on or contributed to others (not including venue provider which would mean Mikey winning hands down every year!)

1st place:  John

2nd place: Steve

3rd place:  Dave

So there you have it, retirement obviously suits Dave who crept up this year from behind! 

Steve and I are pretty obvious contenders and probably explains the leading periods as well as we both cover two out of three each.
