General Green boosts the southern war effort: Hardie Hats donated to MIS
In assisting the southern war effort, General Green is reported to have made a surprise to MIS !
General Green gained notoriety at 1st Manassas and more recently this year during the battle of Sharpsburg at the “Bloody Woods” and on home soil at Federicksburg.
Devoted to the encouragement of experimental weapons, upon arrival at MIS (or to give its full title M I Six), he was met by Professor Ian F L Eming and Q.
Obtained off the fallen yankee’s of the 7th and 10th Iowan Volunteers at Federicksburg, General Green enquired as to what had come of the Hardee hats that he had donated. Q and his assistant "Odd Job" informed those present that they were still in the development stage as a throwing weapon. They had inserted a iron ring inside the brim. Currently it is only capable of slicing through a ration of mouldy corn bread rather than breaking a person's neck when thrown hard enough.

Also in development General Green was shown a “Trick Coffin": with a false bottom that’s intended to be used to pick up spare ammunition off the battlefield rather than the deceased. With the anticipated replacement of the mini ball with metallic cartridges and breech loading weapons, the weight of the magnets, along with health and safety issues associated with exploding cartridges was impeding progress beyond the initial prototype stage.
Finally a coffee grinder: a rather ordinary camp item. Unfortunately, unlike the Agar machine gun (nicknamed the coffee mill in the yankee press) and demonstrated to Ab Lincoln (Boo Hoo ) in 1861, we understand that this is all it does - make coffee !
