Self Hibernating Campaign - 1862, General Hugh I.E. Green

From our roving Reporter: Seymore Fields

It's a relief to all that the wound suffered by General Hugh I.E. Green at the recent Battle of Antietam, is not life threatening, thanks to the prompt action his physician Dr W.H. Oliver.

In the confusion of battle, however, the dangers of wearing a dark blue uniforms is reported to have lead to situations where I Brigadier General Green may have been mistaken on the field of battle for the enemy !

Though Green proclaims himself to be a 'rusty guts fellow' he has no inclination to go to his 'earth's bath'.

A number of acquaintances have informed General Green that the Confederate Quartermaster in Richmond, Virginia, assures them that uniforms are now being mass-produced and supplied to troops to the new CSA regulations.

That being the case, in time for the next battle, General Green has ordered a supply of the  new uniform made from imported blue-grey cloth. He understands that Peter Tait of Limerick, Ireland produces a spiffing tailored uniform. On the upright collar three stars stitched within a wreath, all embroidered in gold colouring and all that.

With regard to the current blood stained blue uniform, General Green wishes to dedicate it to the Charleston Museum. Founded in 1773 and opened to the public since in 1824, as you are a where, it is the CSA's first and most famous public Museum.  General Green trusts this uniform will in time become one of their most treasured items.
