Self Hibernation Campaign - Words from Gen'l Hugh I.E. Green

“Wars produce many accounts of fiction. What I read in the Union papers was fiction. It was a nasty business  - Sharpsburg, especially the bloody wood.

The men and I are sure glad to be back home in Virginia. I pity these Yankee invaders. One way or another we will give them a warm reception.

Victory in the forthcoming battle of Federicksburg will surely boost our hopes of victory”
