Following on from last week's Mounted Lizardmen, I have now completed a foot unit of 17 x Lizardmen Warriors to accompany them.
The completed Lizardman Unit, with a Hero to lead them |
As you would expect after such a long time, they have suffered form lack of care and attention, I had built the figures and undercoated them but taken the project no further. A number of the figures' weapons were broken and for the blue 'hero' figure the shield arm was missing altogether.
Close-up on the 'Hero', I opted for a blue and green colour scheme to this guy to imply he was as made of the same stuff as the Cold Ones... |
Also waiting for a new supply of shields held me up last week but these arrived on Tuesday and were painted and added to the figures after they were completed.
The other side of the Hero figure... |
The missing arm issue was solved by finding a spare arm (albeit from a large goblin figure!), I took the view that as there would be a large shield over this arm - it not being the original lizardman arm did not matter - as it was not on show.
First of four batches of Lizardmen, second left had a broken weapon so replaced this with part of a Goblin sword |
There were also a number for broken weapons, for which I had no spares, luckily, I was able to these four items from suitable parts from other figures in the spares box!
Again second left had a broken weapon, replaced by a Bill head from an old Warhammer Bretonian figure. |
So for these guys I did the same paint scheme as the riders in last week's post, yellowish underbellies and green scales and hide. The painting technique was exactly as described last time.
A good view of the shields, pressed into service here |
The other casualty was the unit standard, which I have had to rebuild from scratch basis some old designs I saw on the internet, I did not have one of the snake like totems to hand.
The command group, with scratch made standard, the two end figures also have repaired weapons |
What I saw on the internet was a number that involved a lot of feathers, which I was able to source from a boxed set of Warlord Landsknechts! As these are cold blooded lizardmen, I thought it was OK for them to add the head of a fallen rival as the centrepiece of their standard! This unfortunate was clearly from another 'tribe'?! as the head is red and yellow in colour.
